Lovell is a delightful small, peaceful town in the Big Horn Basin of northwest Wyoming known as the Rose City of Wyoming and Mustang Country. Thanks to her environmental and beautification focus, Lovell is a Tree City, USA. The relaxed pace of life in the area provide great appeal to new and existing residents of all ages. Lovell is a stable, dependable small town with much to offer. Lovell's civic pride and progressiveness shows through the creation of Lovell Inc. our new nonprofit organization established to promote economic development by retaining and strengthening existing local businesses as well as recruiting new businesses to the area. Their vision is to create a growing, healthy and more diverse economy now and for future generations.

Henry Clay Lovell brought the cattle business to the area in 1879. Later the favorable growing conditions and canal irrigation drew all forms of agriculture; sugar beets, malt barley, corn and alfalfa are among the local cash crops. Major local employers are Western Sugar Co-op, GK Trucking, North Big Horn Hospital, and School Districts #1 and 2 as well as Georgia Pacific, a mining and sheet rock plant, and three bentonite mining and production plants, Cetco, Bentonite Corp., and Wyo-Ben. There are several construction companies and mason contractors and other varied businesses that cater to the needs of area residents and visitors.

Lovell's historic movie palace, the Hyart Theatre, features one of the largest screens west of the Mississippi. This 950 seat classic theater has enjoyed a gradual restoration and hosts first run movies, numerous community concerts, school plays, and more. Beside the parks and golf course to enjoy, several active civic, community groups and religious organizations enhance the quality of life. Lovell has long been known as the gateway to the Big Horn Mountains which provide unending majestic beauty and a year around playground for many outdoor activities. The Big Horn Lake brings additional fishing, boating, water skiing and swimming. Lovell has much to enjoy and be proud of!
