North Big Horn County- Cowley/Byron Properties

Cowley is a charming small town known for its quality of life, clean air, pure artisan drinking water, underground irrigation system and tidy appearance. As many small town populations are declining, Cowley has gained population in recent years. The town pride in its pioneer heritage is unmistakable; the community recently had 2 buildings placed on the National Register of Historic Places and maintains the Pioneer Museum.

July Pioneer Day and the Labor Day Weekend Corn Cookout are two of the town highlights when new, old and returning residents and visitors happily mix. The beautiful park has been expanded with the addition of new baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, horseshoe pits, a volleyball area, pavilion with picnic tables and the area's only outdoor swimming pool.

Byron is nice quiet small town named for Byron Sessions, a prominent leader of the Mormon expedition who settled the Big Horn Basin in 1900. In two years these early settlers dug the first area canal, the 37 mile long Sidon Canal with horse-drawn plows and slip scrapers. Since 1918 this rural town has also been well known for oil fields and gas production.

The community spirit which still thrives is evidenced by the presence of an active Lions Club and Byron Improvement Group, Jones Park, Jones Field, and reputation for the best small town fireworks display in Wyoming during the Byron Community Day in July.
